Soho House Hotel, Redchurch Street

Soho House Hotel, Redchurch Street

SD Structures provided structural design services for a new hotel and restaurant for Soho House in Shoreditch, East London. The building comprises a 5 storey steel frame above ground with a double basement.

We used our extensive experience of basement construction in confined prime London sites to develop a solution which maximised usable space by using a combination of underpinning and low level/ stepped contiguous piled retaining walls around neighbouring footings.

The steel frame was stepped back in a number of locations due to rights of light issues, and the whole ground floor was to be column free resulting in a number of transfer structures. SD used the latest software and construction techniques to design an efficient structure which saved the client over 12 tonnes of structural steel. Composite design, pre-cambered steels and super-elevated columns lead to a highly efficient design.
