The project involved the transformation of a historic industrial laundry press to a unique luxury home in Chelsea. The high floor to ceiling levels provided opportunities for a new mezzanine floor and roof terrace levels whilst leaving some dramatic double height spaces.
Working with one of London’s top architectural firms, Jamie Fobert Architects, attention to detail was key. Steels were carefully coordinated with partitions, and half landings were supported on steel hangers to minimise visual columns. Long cantilever steels were used to create the weightless appearance of the floating floor.
We enjoyed working with Mike on the Tate St Ives Project because of his appreciation of good design and attention to detail. Since setting up SD Structures, we asked Mike and his team to help us with a residential warehouse conversion project. The structure was thoughtfully developed; utilising cantilevered steels, hangers and transfers structures, without comprise to the architecture.Jamie Fobert - Jamie Fobert Architects
